Why We All Need Executive Leadership Coaching

Why We All Need Executive Leadership Coaching

The Executive Coaching Magazine, September 12 2017

So, what is executive leadership coaching exactly?  “Executive coaches act as coach, educator, mentor, guide, confidant, and challenger to those that carry the burden of executive level leadership, the c-level executives as well as their direct reports,” says Jelmer Dijkhuizen, leadership and team consultant for Legacy Consultancy of The Netherlands. The goal is “personal development of the executive.”

Whether one-on-one or as a team, coaching typically takes weeks, months or, in some cases, even years. ...

Verschillen CVI en DiSC verklaard

Posted by:

The State of the Global Workplace*.

What NOT to do when Managing Poor Performance

What NOT to do when Managing Poor Performance

Managing workers is a complicated task, requiring appropriate application of interpersonal and strategic skills. Business success depends on involving employees in company objectives, so they’re motivated to focus on good performance. Poor worker performance is an outcome of:

  • selecting the wrong employees for particular jobs,
  • using inappropriate management methods to direct employees efforts, and
  • relying on these methods to generate improved performance.

What NOT to Do When Managing Poor Performance

Management is perhaps more accountable than employees for poor workplace performance because it decides ...

Talentmanagement

How do I retain top talent?

How do I retain top talent?

Few things in business are as costly and disruptive as unexpected talent departures. With all the emphasis on leadership development, I always find it interesting so many companies seem to struggle with being able to retain their top talent. In today’s post, I’ll share some research, observations, and insights on how to stop the talent door from revolving.

Ask any CEO (as I oftentimes do in my Taylor Protocols Consultancy practice) if they have a process for retaining and developing talent ...

Ondernemer, ontsla uzelf!

Ondernemer, ontsla uzelf!

Are you living on purpose?

Are you living on purpose?

2013 is here! Have you made your New-Years resolutions yet? Eating less, quit smoking, everyone wants to make a change in their lives once in a while. But why are so few people really able to make changes? I believe most people are simply meandering along, letting life “happen” to them… 99% of the world lives life from day to day, trying to “get by” trying to figure out the next best move, doing their best to adjust as life ...

High competence vs. Cultural fit

High competence vs. Cultural fit

The first people you hire in your startup company are critical to the company’s success. So it’s easy to say that you need to hire the “absolute best people you can find.” But what does this actually mean?

Take two different spectrums – (1) competence and (2) cultural fit. Imagine that you have a spectrum for each person — from low to high.

Recruiting talent. Most companies obviously will not hire someone who is low on both competence and cultural fit. They ...

Rags to Riches

His annual earnings were 480 million dollars. And guess what? That was over 100 years ago. That means his annual check today would be $297 billion. That’s billion with a “b.” Not bad for a year’s work. And better than that, at the time of his death he left $350 million to charity.

How did this happen? Was he born into wealth, royalty, a family of incredible influence? Was his name Sinterklaas or Santa?

No, this son ...

The human factor

The human factor

We live in an amazing era of technology-driven transformation that’s redefining how we sell, market, communicate, collaborate, innovate, train, and educate—all in an amazingly short period of time. With that said, though, we don’t want to lose sight of the fact that the future is a human future. And when it comes to humans, it’s all about relationships at a deeper level than just knowing their name and trust. If you don’t have trust, you don’t have a relationship.

But trust ...
